Juan M. Gomez is a multidisciplinary artist working out of his studio space in Long Beach. He studied at CSU Fullerton, where he earned a BFA in Drawing and Painting. Since then, he has remained an active artist whose work has been exhibited in the CSUF Pollack Library, Torrance Art Museum, LA Artcore Brewery Annex, and others.
Gomez considers himself primarily a painter who creates art that is reactive to the unpredictability of his current reality. His artistic concerns are mirrored in the way that his work incorporates media such as ink, wax, and paint. In so doing, he creates something cohesive while confronting the ambiguity of mixing various media. His work also deals with the artist’s roots as he attempts to define the disconnect brought by the passages of time, and to build a better understanding and appreciation of his ancestry.
