studio #11

I began my art career in ceramics. I later discovered the joy of printmaking. After ceramics the 2-dimensionality of printmaking was an artistic challenge until I began to experiment with mixed-media, combining 2 and 3-dimensional objects on rag paper and using encaustic.

My work is based on personal experiences, thoughts, feelings and observations. I am a Japanese-American and during World War II my family and I were sent to a relocation/concentration camp in Poston, Arizona. Those physical boundaries resulted in emotional boundaries that are reflected in my work.
