studio #14

Nicole Cook started with clay at a young age, then studied ceramic sculpture and pottery at the College of William and Mary. In 1991 she founded and published the first women’s art and literature magazine on campus named Winged Nation.  Since then she has explored and pursued photography, drawing, and painting privately and locally at Long Beach City College and LA Harbor College.

Each vessel is made with thought and care. Holding what is made by hand can contribute to a more mindful drinking of tea, eating soup, serving food to loved ones, or filling a vase with flowers. All are hand thrown and trimmed on a kick wheel. Clay is worked in two conditions of wet, then dried and fired at extremely high temperatures.
