Slater Barron (1930 - 2020) worked in many media including dryer lint, installations and mixed media, choosing whatever medium worked best for her concepts. Serious pieces about current social issues came from her sociology background and her humor was reflected in works of lint food and assemblage.
Because of the unusual nature of her work she appeared many times on television programs including The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Visiting with Huell Howser. Her resume lists at least thirty solo shows and more than one hundred group exhibitions nationally and internationally. Almost all Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museums have pieces of her work including several special commissions of portraits of royalty. Her most recent solo exhibitions were a fifty year survey at Stone Rose Gallery and an installation about Alzheimer’s disease at Greenly Art Space.
Come see a broad spectrum of her work at Greenly Gallery.
